Lucas Sikking
Bryan is one of those rare gem developers that not only has a solid understanding of technical matters you'd expect from devs, but also has excellent communicative skills. During my time working with him, I've had so many grateful moments where Bryan broke some complex technical matter down into easy to understand parts, increasing my understanding and that of the entire team. And the list doesn't stop there! As a person, Bryan is very curious and interested in the stories that other people have to tell. This doesn't limit itself to social events, professionally this elevates his work from good to great. Not only did Bryan fulfill the role of scrum master for a while, he toed the line when it came to CI/CD, dockerization, team processes & collaboration, and was always available when I ran into trouble with the more technical aspects of setting up automated tests and mocking. His curiousity and interest in people leads him to go do work where there's work, to improve the things that need improving. He's often the first one to speak up when something is going wrong, or to pitch and try out a new idea. He is always prepared to go the extra mile to improve a product or the situation of the team. 10/10 would work with again.

I had the pleasure of working closely with Bryan for over two years on Zakelijk Portal at VodafoneZiggo, and I can honestly say he’s pretty good at solving complex, high-stakes problems. His combination of strong analytical skills and clear communication makes a real difference, especially during critical production issues. One specific incident comes to mind: we had an urgent performance problem where our application was slowing down dramatically. Bryan jumped in, figured out that a cascading bcrypt decryption loop was blocking the main thread, and fixed it quickly. His calmness under pressure and knowledge were crucial in getting us back on track. Another example was when we traced a company-wide performance drop back to a custom Google Tag Manager script. He took charge of the situation and coordinated with multiple teams. Eventually, solving the issues in the script. Successfully resolving issues like this earned him well-deserved recognition throughout the company. On top of his technical skills, Bryan is proactive, easy to approach, and fun to work with. He raises the bar for everyone around him, and I would absolutely love the chance to work with him again in the future.

Working with Bryan has been an invaluable experience in my career. He has excellent communication skills. When we first started working together it was my first professional experience and I was feeling somewhat stressed-out. I still remember that he would occasionally get my opinion on a decision he had to make - an intern with 1 week of total experience after uni - which made me feel more valuable and confident, and helped me get up to speed with the work and the environment. I can safely say that his approach became a bit of a guide for me. Often times, when I need to do some knowledge-sharing or do some sort of announcement to my team-mates, I have a part of me that thinks "How would Bryan formulate this?". Besides communication, he also made me appreciate the importance of writing clean, simple code—a lesson that resonated more and more as our team grew throughout the 2.5 years we worked together.

Ryan Harrington
Bryan spent 3 years as a teacher for Head Start English School in Taipei, Taiwan. He was well liked and respected by his colleagues and his supervisors. He was extremely self motivating; attending Chinese classes in the morning while teaching afternoons and evenings. Bryan was creative and patient with his students. He taught both assigned curriculum as well as classes he developed himself. Bryan required very little training or supervision as he understood and executed his position with excellence. Bryan left this position when he moved away from Taiwan. He would certainly be welcomed back.
